Highlights - Auswahl
a) The highlights of my stay
in the U.S.A. were my days at Marquette, the great time and
the fun I had with all the great people there. I also enjoyed
my trip to Madison. Another highlight was the Oasis concert on
my last day in Milwaukee. Actually there was a highlight every
day, the trips to Chicago, Washington, New York, etc.
b) The highlights of my stay
in the U.S.A. were ...
- our trip to New York for
four days: Chinatown, Times Square, World Trade Center,
Wall Street
- our one-day trip to
Chicago when we walked down Hancock Tower
- the parties on the
weekends
- school !!
- going shopping in the
big malls
- Ed Debevic’s, a fast
food restaurant in Milwaukee
- the Domes, a great sight

Differences - Auswahl
- the people in the U.S.A.
are more polite than in Germany; they always say "excuse
me"!
- at 16 the guys are
allowed to drive a car
- stores and malls do not
close on Sundays
- you can buy alcohol only
when you are 21 years old
- school is easier than in
Germany, the students can choose their subjects
- they do not drink
regular coke, only diet coke
- they only eat "low fat "stuff
- you can buy cigarettes
only when you are 18
Americans usually have a
pretty different way of living than we do. They are much more
spontaneous, flexible and open-minded than Germans are. But
they really love to waste things like electricity, water,
plastic ...
Another point is that they do
not like walking, it seems as if they use their cars for
everything, to get to the next block or for drive-thru-banking.
