The new faces students saw roaming the halls from March 16-27 were part of the German-American Foreign Exchange between MUHS and the Christoph Scheiner Gymnasium.

The school is located in Ingolstadt, a city in the Bavarian region of Germany.

Eleven students and two teachers made the transatlantic trip. All stayed with host families of MUHS German students, shadowing them throughout their daily activities.

The Americans and Germans participated in several activities over the two weeks, ranging from bowling to attending a Milwaukee Bucks basketball game to going to the movies.

The Germans didn't limit their sightseeing to Milwaukee. The group also took a five-day excursion throughout the Midwest. Stops included St. Louis, Chicago, and Springfield, Ill., where the students did research on President Abraham Lincoln.

"The exchange was very good," commented sophomore exchange student Kristina Mosburger. "I enjoyed meeting new people, learning about the American culture and language, and visiting new places." MUHS and Christoph Scheiner have been exchanging students successfully for over twelve years now. "The exchange has been highly successful," noted Mr. Werner Kundmüller, who accompanied the students to Milwaukee. "Each year there is something new to see. [The schools' relationship has witnessed] such important events as the fall of the Berlin Wall, the unification of Germany, and the birth of new European countries. This year we see the Euro." The exchange will be completed this summer when Dr. Sylvester Kreilein takes a group of Marquette students to visit Germany in early June.

Plans include visits to Berlin; Innsbruck, Austria; Munich; and Ingolstadt, where the MUHS students will stay with host families.
